CIREBON, West Java: Floods have again hit Cirebon, this time engulfing 400 homes in two villages in Waled district due to the overflowing Ciberes River. Floods began inundating residents' homes on Wednesday night at up to a meter high. Although the floods receded Thursday, a number of locations were still swamped by between 20 and 30 centimeters of water."Heavy rains in Cirebon since Wednesday evening had caused the Ciberes River to overflow and swamped 400 homes," said Waled district chief Kusdiono. The two villages affected by the floods are Gunung Sari and Mekar Sari villages. There were no reports of casualties, but the disaster caused damage estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah.
